Small games that teach while children play.

We make learning games for phones and tablets. Short sessions that fit a bus ride, a waiting room or the walk to school — with real arithmetic and real vocabulary underneath the adventure.

Our games

Aksios has been building learning games since 2011, starting on Nokia and Android. We are bringing them back, rebuilt for the phones children actually use.

Numbunny gameplay: a green rabbit in a stone-walled maze with animals patrolling nearby
In development

Numbunny

A grid maze across ten levels. Mr Red Owl has lost three coins; find them, get them back to him before the clock runs out, and answer the chalkboard every time you stop an animal with a tossed carrot. The arithmetic is adjustable by operation and number range, the timer can be switched off, and four children can keep separate profiles on one device.

Numbunny is a full rebuild of our 2011 game Mathventure — the same puzzles and the same characters, running properly on today’s iOS and Android devices.

Mathventure

Our first Android release: an adventure game where practising mental arithmetic is how you make progress, not a quiz bolted on at the end. It left the store when the platform moved on. Numbunny is its replacement.

Wizard’s English

Nine levels of monsters and spells, with English synonyms as the key to every door. Published on the Nokia Store and retired with it.

Why we build games instead of exercises

Children learn by doing something, being challenged by it, and imagining their way through it. A game gives all three at once, which a worksheet does not.

Play is also how children practise the things that are hard to teach directly: solving a problem with incomplete information, staying with something frustrating, working out what to try next.

And it goes where the child goes. Ten minutes on the bus, in a car, in a waiting room, at home, at school. Learning does not have to wait for a desk.

Made for families

A game a child plays alone should not be a place where anything is sold to them or collected about them.
